Culture is what everyone has and it makes everyone unique and different. Some start to educate themselves on their own culture based on what they see around them. Others learn from their parents like being taught a language then later in life they can speak it fluently. Learning early places them in a group of people with similar cultures or if their open-minded, a group with people of different cultures. Race and Ethnicity Today in society, there is an inequality with races and ethnic backgrounds in the United States. The prejudice judgements have flourished over many generations which causes the world view of racism to become international. There are many differences between race and ethnicity. Race is defined by the color of someone’s skin, society considers people if they are one drop of that race they are considered that race, this is known as the “Drop of Blood” theory, this pertains to a racist theory. Culture is identity. Culture encompasses the people I love and the ones that love me. Through culture, individuality is found, which causes this world beautiful. Different groups have different forms of art, music, food, language, etc. But regardless of these differences, everybody is capable of connecting with one another.
My whole life I never thought about my culture. Until this class, multicultural influence on learning, I never thought about my culture because I was told as a white male I had none. In preparing for this paper and throughout this class I have seen this is not true at all! There is culture in everything, and it has vastly influenced the direction of my life.
Why is race of such major significance in American society? Race is defined as a concept that was created by human beings in which the world is believed to be divided into biological groups that share genetically transmitted traits. This is significant to the American society because the people made up the word race, meaning race was not naturally here. The people who are discriminated, prejudice, and stereotyped are treated unfairly simply because other people with different physical traits decided to separate themselves from them.
In the words of E.B. Tylor, Culture is "that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, custom and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society. " Culture is a dominant human instrument for survival, but it is a fragile phenomenon. It is continually changing and as nations grow, so do their cultural disparities.
Culture is a way of life shared by a group of people. My culture is influenced by my family, friends and media. Culture is influenced by family because they teach me differently languages and foods. Growing up my family would talk to me in Spanish and give me books in Spanish, so I will learn how to read and talk in their cultures language. My family were also at them you watch how they cook the food there culture ate, so when I grow up I would know how to make it.

Therefore, culture plays a major role in an individual’s perspective of life and his/her personality. Cultures have differed than each other, depending on the places they were established in, the way of survival people pursued to acclimate with different circumstances, and how they shared their experiences with each other.
