The iconic English rock band, The Beatles has come to be known as one of the most powerful, influential rock bands of the twentieth century. The Beatles dominated the music charts with having sold hundreds of millions of records just in America alone. The group deservingly won several Grammies and other awards through their widely success sales. Their song, “Revolution” was first released as a hard rock song in despite being the second version to be recorded. “Revolution 1” was the original, slower version that was later released on the album, The Beatles.
With the rising number of protests against the Vietnam War, John Lennon was inspired to write one of the first political songs, “Revolution,” in response. The song begins with Lennon’s guitar quickly playing the same melody. Interestingly, the guitars were so strongly amplified that it sounded fuzzy and distorted. Lennon provided the main vocals with Paul McCartney and George Harrison providing the back vocals. At times McCartney and Harrison repeated chants of “don’t you know it’s going to be…” and Lennon repeating “alright,” sometimes in a falsetto tone. The backing vocals included some random shouting and cries. Repeated sounds and a constant beat can be heard throughout the song. The rhythm of the song is powerful, most likely to create an exciting mood. The pitch is constantly loud and dynamic. In contrast, “Revolution 1” has a slower tempo and more blues-like compared to “Revolution.” This version included an acoustic guitar that was replaced by an electric guitar in “Revolution.” “Revolution 1” was pushed back due to disagreements from the other members for the fact that it was too slow, but was later released in The White
