In today’s society the use of drugs has become a concerning issue. Drugs are being abused all over the world by adults and teenagers.Studies done today show that “ In America, the shadow of drugs hits early and hard” ( Lee and Walter 1). Influence can be found anywhere, from the peer pressure of friends to parents or other family members dealing with an addiction. However, there are many laws being enforced to minimize the use of illegal substances. Drugs in school have become one of America’s biggest concerns. In recent years, “ the US Department of Health and Human Services estimated that 22.2 million people age twelve years and older were struggling with either substance dependence or abuse in 2005” ( Lee and Walter 1). A problem with drugs in society is that there is abundance. Many people have connections to suppliers which have easy access to harmful drugs life threatening chemicals. Abusers many times underestimate the damage that drugs cause to their health.
