The Internet: The Major Advantages Of Making Friends Online

“One major disadvantage of making friends online is that you do not always know if people are who they say they are.” (Source 3). With the internet, people are able to be anonymous to others who don’t know who they are. With this secrecy people can even act like people they’re not. People on the other side of the internet can do or say things that show traits that don’t relate to their personalities in real life. People also don’t realize that by staying online or on social media most of the time you are not interacting with friends and other people in real life. You also can’t sustain a healthy relationship with someone you can interact with and see every couple days. Due to not collaborating with these people it can lead to a very stale relationship that is bound to end. With these in mind it is very hard for people to make friends online, and sometimes even impossible.
Like I said before, computers and websites are becoming more adept to holding personal information. Electronics nowadays are very secure when keeping information, but this is also for both sides. Due to this it allows for the secrecy of a person online including yourself, this can be very reassuring, but also scary. With this it doesn’t allow you or anyone else to know the feelings of someone else especially when you don’t even know if the person is who they say they are. Sally Arthur believes “If you are dealing with someone who is not forthcoming about their identity, you don 't know his or her motive for
