Michael Bennett is a detective in New York City who has to deal with everything and anything that goes wrong. On top of dealing with his 10 kids, his hard to explain relationship with their babysitter, he now has to deal with a new case at work; his worst case. The story starts off with a man named Francis Mooney who’s concerned with our society, and is handing out flyers. After he is ignored by multiple people, a switch flips in his head. He then thinks that the only way to make people realize the problems in the world is by killing them. He eventually kidnaps Jacob Dunnings, eighteen year old son of a billionaire. This psychopath’s solution to the world’s problems is kidnapping the young children of extremely wealthy people, and giving them a “pass or fail” test, but instead of failing, they die. During the investigation, the Dunnings call in the FBI to help the investigation, which is when Michael Bennett is introduced to Agent Emily Parker, whom he is attracted to. Francis calls the house and instructs Bennett to get in his car and call him on his cell phone. He gives him a tour of the area he’s driving through, describing how it’s in poverty and it’s all corporate America’s fault. He disconnects the call after they arrive and they find Jacob’s body lifeless, in a school chair, showing his role in being a psychopath.
