Key Points – Before becoming The Joker, Jack Napier wears purple suits, plays with cards and is branded to be crazy. His police report says that at the age of 15 he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, has violent mood swings, a high intelligence and is emotionally unstable. Jack has aptitudes in science, chemistry and art. The film depicts the most commonly accepted Joker backstory. Jack is asked to clear out a vat of illegal chemicals and is set-up. The police arrive and a lieutenant tells the squad to kill him if sighted but commissioner Gordan arrives and tell them to keep him alive. There is an abundance of information on the most commonly accepted back story of The Joker, shows his strengths and weaknesses, offensive and defensive tactics, and when compared with other interpretations of The Joker such as the Health Ledger interpretation it shows the similarities and slight differences between the interpretations. Credibility – Although the movie was released in 1989 it is not out of date. The information on the Joker will not change or go out of date and in the making of this movie, 200 comic book issues were studied to ensure correct information was used throughout the movie and the storyline is coming from a primary source of information.

Bias – The movie shows all aspects of The Joker but does not include Frieza. This is because the movie is about the batman characters and therefore I do not believe it is biased in that aspect. I do not believe the film favours The Joker as a character as when it is compared with other sources the information on the Joker is similar. Validity – The information in this film is quite valid. The film shows Frieza’s strengths and weaknesses, offensive and defensive tactics, and when compared with other interpretations of Frieza there are not many differences between the interpretations.
