THE JOURNEY OF DON QUIXOTE
This project intends to pay homage to Don Quixote from La Mancha in the anniversary of the death of its author Miguel de Cervantes. This novel has been a keystone in the Western culture for centuries and it is known by millions of people all over the world. Nevertheless, the last generations of readers have put this book aside and forgot about its literary and cultural values as it has been considered an old-fashioned work. This project intends to show the wanderings and adventures of Alonso Quijano and Sancho Panza to an audience that doesn´t know much about the Spain of the 16th Century. There is no need to go back in time. The stories and conflicts which are posed in the book are close to us and the audience can easily identify situations and conflicts that have much to do with our contemporary life. This project intends to break the framework of a novel. Don Quixote is not and old Spaniard who is looking for his beloved Dulcinea, but a middle-aged man who thinks that it is never late to make dreams come true. His companion and counterpart Sancho doesn´t need to be the rude peasant that we thought he was but a man down-to-earth who tries to keep the small pleasures of his life as a treasure. This story takes the characters to a journey that changes their whole life and their perception of the world. As readers, as audience, we go along with them; we suffer with their misfortunes and enjoy the moments of fun and happiness. After four centuries
