“Hey, look at that beautiful view!” I exclaimed as the Phoenix, Arizona sky was filled with vibrant colors and a beautiful sunset. It was spring break in 2012 and my family and some other families decided to enjoy a fun vacation together. We had gone horseback riding and out to eat to cap off one last night together. I heard that we had decided to go out to eat at a fun, southern restaurant called The Jumping Toad. As we wrapped up with the horses, I asked if I could ride with my friend, Colin, over to the restaurant which happened to only be a few miles down the road. Before I even start on my food, I hear a loud bang at the table where all the parents are sitting. My dad is thrusting my mom’s chest in and out for some reason and I’m very confused about what is happening. I soon come to realize that my mom is choking on a piece of chicken. I am worried and frightened, telling myself that everything is gonna be okay when truly, I am unsure. I say a quick prayer to myself. “Lord, please control whatever is happening and help my mom to be okay.” I am thinking to myself in brief visions about what life is like without a mother and how I would be able to function without my mom, my role model. Sadly, in the table across the restaurant I see a couple of teenagers with their phones out, taking videos and laughing while I stand there, crying. Thankfully, one of the ladies in the restaurant was a nurse and kept my mom calm as help was on the way. My friends mom told all the kids to get out of the restaurant and wait on the patio. About a minute later, police cars, firetrucks, and ambulances stormed into the parking lot with flashing lights and loud sirens. There must have been over 10 total service
