In the story of The Kite Runner Amir has to over some many obstacles in life to become good again after something horrible happends in the novel. Has Amir become good again? Amir has always been good he just wanted to reach his fathers (baba) expectations causing him to do things that hurt others without realizing it thinking it is okay and sacrificing everything including Hassan, he acted as if sacrificing Hassan didn't affect him, and he didn't want to accept the fact it affected him a lot because he did it to make his father proud. Amir thinks that having power over little things would make him feel better about himself and feel that having control ment no need to be scared of anything such as when he threw walnuts at the neighbor's dog “shooting walnuts at the neighbor's dog was always my idea” The quote also shows Amir telling the truth that he was the one with idea, but he didn't want to tell Ali the truth because of what he would think about Amir after all horrible thing he's done especially since Hassan was always saying it was his idea and took the blame. Amir had framed Hassan by putting a wallet and his watch under hassan's bed he felt that he needed to do so, so that baba would give him more attention then he did to hassan. Ali decided to leave Kabul with Hassan, after they had left Amir and baba later on moved to America, Amir thought this was a good idea for a new fresh start Amir quotes “for me America a place to bury memories” moving to America was the best way for Amir to run away from the past now that Hassan is not near, and he isn't in Kabul, he was sure that he could get rid of the feeling of guilt he had felt in him after the incident. Later on in the years, Amir finds out that Hassan was his half brother, and he gets this horrible feeling that he felt back in Kabul but worse because knowing that Hassan was his half brother, and he did nothing to protect him he was blood, family. Rahim khan then broke more bad news to Amir about Hassan being dead, so Amir didn't know what to do anymore and how to pay for what he had done, there was one option, Hassan's nephew who was being held in an orphanage in Kabul with the Taliban. Amir decided he will not be going that he is not risking his new good life to save someone he doesn't know but as Amir thinks about it, he soon decides he will go so he tells rahim khan he is willing to risk it as he states“ Then I told him I was going to Kabul” this shows that Amir cares about Hassan and really
