Frank Beddor’s book The Looking Glass Wars is another version of The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland. In this retelling of the story, Alyss is a princess in the queendom of Wonderland. Her Aunt Redd takes over the throne as Queen Alyss is cast out of Wonderland and has to find her way home to retake her throne. In this book there are many themes evident.

In The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor, the story Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland gets told from a different perspective. Beddor takes Alice’s story and shakes it up a little bit. This time, Alyss is the princess and soon-to-be Queen of Wonderland. But she has to take a sharp curve when her evil Aunt Redd takes over their queendom.
She sees things that she would never think were possible, for example: she talks to animals, and they talk back; she drank a potion that made her shrink, and she was considered the historical hero of Wonderland. Therefore, she keeps denying that she is the “real Alice” that Wonderland had always waited for. Alice is insecure and feels like she is not capable of accomplishing the tasks and duties she is expected to. Alice meets a man called Mad Hatter and while she has tea with him he teaches her about the Red Queen and her plans of devastating Wonderland. He tells Alice to kill the monster, the Jabberwocky and protect Wonderland from the evil Red Queen.
In Frank Beddor’s The Looking Glass Wars, he retells the original story of Alice in Wonderland. He turns the whole story backwards, and makes Princess Alyss’s original home Wonderland instead of London. She then must leave Wonderland because her mother, Queen Genevieve, must protect her daughter Alyss from Queen Redd, who is about to take over the throne. While Alyss is running away, she ends up in England and starts a new life.

The end of chapter 9 is such a turning point, because Amir and Hassan’s friendship finally falls apart. Amir has felt so guilty that he witnessed Hassan being raped and didn’t put a stop to it, he’s been trying to get Hassan to hate him by pelting Hassan with pomegranates. “The color fell from his face… I hurled the pomegranate at him. It struck him in the chest, exploded in a spray of red pulp. Hassan’s cry was pregnant with surprise and pain” (92).
As one flies a kite, they will struggle to keep the kite up as the wind tosses it back and forth. Eventually, the string will get cut, and the kite will go out of control. Through his use of dramatic scenes in The Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseini shows how kites are a symbol of Amir and Hassan’s friendship and how it struggles to stay alive, and gets cut off and goes completely out of control. When the book begins, Amir and Hassan’s relationship is generally steady, as they have grown up together. “[T]here was a brotherhood between people who had fed from the same breast, a kinship that not even time could break.”
In The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor, the original book of Alice in Wonderland is told in a whole new way. Alyss is now told as the princess of Wonderland, and she is trying to get away from her aunt Redd who is trying to take her crown that was passed on to her younger sister, Queen Genivieve. She goes through the looking glass and falls into London. But later on, she ventures back into Wonderland to claim her rightful place as warrior queen. As Alyss faces these conflicts, Beddor introduces the idea of perseverance.
Anyways Alice writes in a diary about all her problems, for example she writes about her fears, worries about a lot of things especially about her crush Roger and her weight that she has gain, she also talks about she uncomfortable a lot, so she 's depressed. The story really starts when Alice 's dad a college professor accepts a job somewhere else so her whole family has to move to a different area. Moving to a new wasn 't such a bad idea for Alice and her family since they get a fresh start, which makes Alice happy. Once, Alice moved to a new town she acually found it difficult because she has to go to a new school and it was hard for her to meet new people. The first person Alice meet was obviously her new neighbor who is Beth.
Kite Runner The author of the Kite Runner is Khaled Hoesseini. He was born in 1965 in Afghanistan and then moved to America. Whilst living in America, he published novels one of which is the Kite Runner. The Kite Runner novel is a novel which depicted the Afghanistan condition from fall of the monarchy in Afghanistan trough the Soviet invasion, the mass exodus of refugees to Pakistan and the United States, and the rise of the Taliban regime (Kurilah, 2009)
This causes Alice to endure an identity crisis while delirious creatures question her central beliefs. The nonsensical elements of Wonderland require Alice to search for her true self. Alice’s character development occurs within the themes of the novel, starting with the examination of life
In the novel, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, the plot is constructed in a circular structure. The structure of the novel emphasizes how big events can drastically change someone’s life; in addition Hosseini characterizes Amir in a morally ambiguous way, displaying how Amir matures as a person but fail to learn how to stand up for himself. allowing a person like Amir to redeem himself and in many ways fail to learn from his past mistakes. This circular structure of the story provides Amir an opportunity to redeem himself from the selfish and cruel ways he treats Hassan as a child.
