The Labours Of Hercules Differences

Disney’s movie, Hercules, has many differences in comparison to "The Labours of Hercules" by David Creighton. Firstly, a substantial difference is Hercules’s birth and young life. As an infant, Hercules in "The Labours of Hercules" is born to Zeus and Alcmene: "The mother of Hercules was Alcmene, granddaughter of Perseus . . . So it was that Zeus became the father of Hercules" (Creighton 1). However, in Hercules, Disney shows that the parents of Hercules were Zeus and Hera. This represents Zeus as a favourable father and husband who caters towards children. Unfortunately, in actual Greek mythology, Zeus is an atrocious husband, cheating on his wife Hera multiple times. A second considerable difference is the trials that Hercules goes through.
