Will it be Life or Death? In most fairy tales the prince or commoner falls for and saves the princess, and they get married and live happily ever after. But, this particular story, “The Lady, or the Tiger?”, is different. The princess has to decide whether her lover, in this case, a commoner gets to have a happily ever after with another woman or wait for the princess in the afterlife. Even though she struggled to let him live or die, the princess led her lover to his death, for which he would open the door to the tiger. The princess thought about it for days, over and over. From time to time, she imagined her lover and the lady getting married, right in front of her eyes she tore her hair out and gnashed her teeth. Her blood boiled, and her soul burned with agony. She couldn’t stand to think about that. Of course, She wanted her lover all to herself. She filled with hatred when she found out who the lady would be. She was the fairest and loveliest of the damsels of the court. Thus, the princess did not appreciate the lady and her lover exchanging glances in the courtyard which made her have even more hatred for the lady. Not to mention, she was semi-barbaric which meant she would most likely go through anything to get her lover all to herself. She even thought it would be better if he could just wait for her in the afterlife. On the other hand, she had, also, imagined him dying. She thought about all the blood of her “dead” lover which made her shriek, pull her hair, and just go crazy. However, she had imagined him with the lady more than him dying a horrifying death.
