The Last of the Mohicans The movie, The Last of the Mohicans directed by Michael Mann is about the members of a dying Native American tribe, the Mohicans Uncas (Eric Schweig), his father Chingachgook (Russell Means), and his adopted half-white brother Hawkeye (Daniel Day-Lewis) who live along the British colonist in peace. But when the daughters (Madeleine Stowe, Jodhi May) of a British colonel are kidnapped by a scout, Hawkeye and Uncas must rescue the in the middle of a military conflict of which they wanted no part, this film takes place during the French and Indian war, during the year 1757 the fourth year of the war. During the beginning of the movie a British regiment is ambushed by the Huron tribe which is a real tribe who was aligned with the French, the British regiment is saved by the last of the Mohicans, this did not actually happen. However British troops were ambushed often during the French and Indian war, and many ambushes did occur leading up to the siege of fort William Henry this is an instant where the skirmish did happen, however three Mohicans did not actually intervene in any of the ambushes, and the Mohican tribe is still around today, Uncas, Chingachgook, and Hawkeye were not actually the last of the Mohicans. The next big event in the movie was the siege of fort William henry, which is a true historical event, Colonel Munro did defend against general Marquis and he did fail and end up surrendering to Marquis.
