The movie “The Legend of Bagger Vance” is directed by Robert Redford and it comes from a book called “The Legend of Bagger Vance: Golf and the Game of Life” takes place in Savannah, Georgia during the early years of right before the Depression hits big in the South. A wealthy man named, John Invergordon decides he should build what would be a championship golf course one day known as Krewe Island Gold Resort to help keep money coming in during the Depression. He goes broke eventually and shoots himself early in the film. His daughter Adele Invergordon played by (Charlize Theron) inherits the golf course and tries to keep it alive and not sell the men in town. This movie was a slow start to when Junuh is approached by a mysterious gentlemen carrying a suitcase, who starts to walk to him stating how he is “taking in some of God’s glories” while Junuh is trying to hit golf balls into the night. He introduces himself as Bagger Vance (Will Smith) and says he will be Junuh's caddy for a guaranteed $5.00 win or lose. Vance then helps Junuh to play golf again. We see this character of Bagger Vance and it seems as he is there for a reason and has many meanings as to why he just magically appears on set to Junuh and starts to talk with him and no one else. It can be seen as imagery in that is his inner self for who he once knew and to get his swing back that he claimed he lost when left for the war. It is as if he has fear and demons inside from the images he saw in the war when everyone around him died except him. With Bagger caddying for Junuh he mentions how he need to find his “authentic swing” which is seen as a metaphor “self-discovery”. Bagger tells Junuh; “Yep… Inside each and every one of us is one true authentic swing…
