The lesson Michael J. Fox learned also connects to the main character Matthew “Moose” Flanagan and his mom from “Al Capone Does My Shirts” in two ways. To start off with, Moose was very nervous to move into a prison that was very famous for housing dangerous criminals. He believed there would be nothing to do and none of the other people would accept him. Piper’s dad who also lived at the prison didn’t like a lot of people such as Moose’s sister since anybody could spread secrets on where certain criminals are. Moose thought that he would never live a normal life again. Once he arrived and met the children some were surprisingly very happy that they could be friends. Not all of them were nice but they accepted him and began to talk more. Moose still went to school and even made friends there who played baseball. He began playing baseball with them after school at times. Moose was able to change his lifestyle and meet new people so he could somewhat live a normal life. …show more content…
In order for Natalie to get the right treatment for her autism their mom needed to earn more money to afford it. She decided to start teaching piano lessons in city to earn more money. She was trying to be helpful and earn money to help Natalie get through autism instead of sitting around. Moose also needed coming home earlier than before. He had to watch Natalie when their mom left to teach the lessons. Moose couldn’t play baseball with his friends after school which made him quite upset. As he starts coming home early he actually gets used to it and at the same time makes his mom proud. Moose and his mom both changed and in the end they were able to handle it very well and at the same time help Natalie. To conclude, the lesson Michael J. Fox learned did connect to Moose and his mom in the story “Al Capone Does My
