The Liars Crown Sparknotes

The book “The Liars Crown” by Abigail Owen follows a character named Mereneith Evangeline who is the twin sister of Princess Tabra Eutherial 1 of Aryd. She is described as a carbon copy of her sister, down to each scar and mole. She has long black hair, golden skin that can “freckle in the sun,” an “unusual” shade of amber eyes, a stubborn chin, and the moles and scars. But, unlike her sweet sister, Mereneith was more adventurous and daring; having been couped up for her entire life. Only serving as a decoy for her sister whenever things seemed too dangerous, so she would die and not Tabra. She would sneak out from her hiding home in Enora to meet up with her friend Cain. And on one of those nights, she finds out the queen, her grandmother,

She has been told by him to curse the child born an enfernae (someone who has control over intangible things, such as emotions or souls) before she does so to Tabra she gets a vision of a terrible future she guesses, is what will happen if she does so. Then Meren is born, she isn’t surprised at all but instead of cursing Tabra, she curses Meren and blesses Tabra, that’s when everything starts going wrong. Then the queen dies and after the queen's death Eidolons sends a letter for Tabra’s hand in marriage to untie their dominions. After that, it was Meren getting kidnapped by Reven because he needed her help with saving Tyndra from sinking. Then the arrival to Reven’s sanctuary “Shadowood” where people who have gone “missing” in Enora have been going to for a better and new life. Reven revealing he is a part Eidolon and that he is the “shadowraith” the person has been kidnapping people at night. Meren receiving news from Vos (another character/one of the leaders in Shadowood) that Tabra has accepted Eidolons proposal and in 3 days they would be getting married. And then there is Meren telling the leaders she has to go and stop her “body double” from getting married to Eidolon. And Meren getting there late, and there being a huge fight that nearly ended with Reven dying. He lives though. I think

She had to curse Tabra originally but instead cursed Meren not wanting to face the consequences that might happen if she cursed Tabra. So, she defies him knowing he is growing weak and lets Meren be the cursed twin.

The second major conflict is the proposal Eidolon had for Tabra. It involved Meren, Tabra, and a handmaiden named Achlys but mostly the twins. Achlys was just there, not knowing what to do but Meren was just finishing reading the letter telling her sister it was not a good idea to accept it. Tabra was persistent though eventually Meren gave in but refused to let them wed and for Eidolon to be alone with Tabra.

The third major conflict is between Vos, Reven, and Meren. Vos comes back from Aryd from the coronation ad confronts Meren by strangling her and asking her who she was because the real queen was in Aryd. Of course, Meren lied and told them it was her body double to save herself from the trouble and give herself more guilt. Reven again was just observing but stopped Vos from killing
