It is true, however, that violent video games do not produce an equal effect on everyone. Some games have the potential of drastically changing a person’s character while the same game may produce little or no effect on another person. This is because every person has their own personality already, and some will become violent easily while others will not. Some humans are influenced simply and quickly while others will not allow themselves to undergo change. Therefore, the link between violent video game and real-world violence is insufficient since it depends entirely on the character of the person who plays the game. This argument is indeed inevitable since all people already have their own characters. Although many organizations and studies tell us that violent crimes have gone down as video game sales went up, the number of mass shootings occurring with every coming year have drastically increased no matter what kind of data you use or look at. It is a well-known fact that here, in America, the number of mass shootings has escalated since the nineteen hundreds. (Bridges and Tober). And not surprisingly, the most popular genre of video games bought in the United States is shooter games (Statista 2018). These games can be especially effective since nearly all are in the first person and grant players with the opportunity to kill many innocent people in a few minutes. However, this does not show an association between the number of mass shootings and amount of shooter games bought in the United States, but it does display the fact that both mass shootings and the number of shooter games bought have acutely increased together, which may in-fact show a hidden link between
