This is what has brought the food economy in the U.S to be a sustainable one due to the transition that it has experienced. This has made a lot of people to turn down the seasonal foodstuffs and moved to the local foods. The change and the growth of the food economy has removed the doubt that was created before by the people due to the coming up of the local food movement that improved the food economy. However, this made the retail food market to grow due to the local foods. The important thing is that the local foods are usually produced by the small scale farmers. This is bringing so much competition to these small farmers because they are not that well advanced in the market. They can also conquer the competition if they have a vivid picture and idea of the food economic opportunities (2007).
