A children’s book that I will be discussing, is called The Lorax by Dr. Seuss. The Lorax is about a boy who's living in a ruined town, and he wants to know the story of the Lorax, so he goes to the Once-ler, an elderly inventor/manufacturer. Doc Brown—ahem, the Once-ler—tells the boy how the town came to be ruined, and most importantly, what he can do to turn things around (“Shmoop”, 2017). The setting of this story takes places in barren town and a lush forest. A setting is where a story takes place and in this story the author makes the setting believable for young children. A plot has six elements, which is exposition, conflict, rising action , climax , falling action , and resolution. The exposition is the first element of a story plot and it’s the beginning of the story. The exposition of the story, starts off with the young boy wondering what was the Lorax and why was it there. Along with that, he ask why was it lifted and taken away. After asking those questions, someone tells him to ask the elderly inventor/manufacturer because he knows. The next element of a story plot is the conflict and the conflict is the problems the characters face in the stories. The conflict of this story, is the Onceler went through town and he wanted to use the Truffula trees to make Thneeds. He cuts down all of the trees and because that the Lorex tries to get the Onceler to stop cutting down trees. The Lorex is constantly tying get him to stop cutting the trees and to show him the harm he is causing but he doesn’t care. The next element of a story plot is the rising action, the rising action is the event leading up the climate in the story. The rising action of this story, is when the young boy has to leave town and go find the Onceler. Once the boy finds the onceler, the boy pays the Onceler to hear the story of
