The Mandela Effect By Fiona Broome

Parallel universes, alternate realities, and worlds with altered timelines similar to our own, has been an idea discussed amongst scientists since around 1957. Researchers and anybody who believes in this level of science, claim that every possible scenario that could’ve happened in our daily lives is all happening in parallel worlds throughout many universes (Harrison). The Mandela Effect has people all over the world raving that there is proof of many alternate realities. The term “Mandela Effect” has come to light over the past couple of years because of people who had thought that Nelson Mandela died in prison in the 1980s. But really he was freed around the 1990s and died in 2013. The people who’ve believed this have surfaced that there’s …show more content…

were falsely remembered. After doing research for many mis-rememberings, Broome had ultimately named this phenomenon “the Mandela Effect.” She seems to believe, along with others, that these false memories are glitches in the matrix. Also, that people who remember things being a certain way aren’t recalling it wrong, but rather “crossing over” from another reality where those specific things actually did occur (Shermer). People all over the United States have uncovered many details, spellings, and events that they put with the Mandela Effect. One example of this is a known childhood television show for quite a few called the Berenstain Bears. People who watched this show as a child recall the show title being spelled -stein, with an e in place of the a. Those who have researched this on the internet or found VHS tapes and book forms of this, have said there’s basically no record of the show being spelled -stein. Another example includes the 1937 Disney film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This movie surfaced as part of this phenomenon because people came to realize that the quote, “mirror, mirror on the wall…” was never said that exact way that everybody remembers. But rather said as, “magic mirror on the …show more content…

My bologna has a second name, it’s M-E-Y-E-R.” But if one were to look up the bologna brand name, they would find that it has always been spelled M-A-Y-E-R. Not as a lot of people remember. Basically, there seems to be no record of these details ever being the way some remember it (Dance). So how is it that there are large amounts of total strangers that all thought and believed that something was said or spelled a certain way, even though it never was? Scientists who are fascinated and have studied this phenomenon have theories for all of this. One being that our universe is somehow colliding with others (Emery). Quantum physics is a very complex idea that has something to do with all of this. Also, that researchers and scientists have created in thought of parallel worlds and realities. It’s a very real theory but is probably unprovable due to how intricate it is in the science field (Shermer). Einstein had a theory on these universes and quantum physics system, but it’s barely a full theory and not proven yet. It would be extremely complicated and difficult to be able to prove that the theory, such as the Mandela Effect with other worlds such as our own, is in fact true. There seem to be many different clues for if we are living in an alternate world
