The maquiladora industry went into Mexico during the 1960's. This industry went into Mexico because the wages paid to workers were low. Therefore, it was cheaper to produce a new product in factories located in Mexico. At the beginning of maquiladoras, women represented 80% of the industry's labor force. They mostly want women laborers because they said that women did the work better due to their small and agile hands.
