One may wonder while reading Plato’s Allegory of the Cave if Plato was correct in saying or portraying that the ascent is a rough path. Plato is correct that the ascent is rough because gaining knowledge is difficult, because his physical state, and human nature. In Plato’s Allegory of the Cave, the human beings are chained up, unable to move or even turn their heads around. In the event that one of the prisoners was released, he or she would have a difficult time physically because of their lack of activity, and exercise in the cave.
