The word mentor evolves to mean trusted advisor, teacher and wise individuals. Hence, history offer several examples of facilitating mentoring relationships: Jesus and his disciples, Plato and Socrates, Freud and Jung (Gordon, 1977).
According to Gordon (1977) the story of a mentor comes from Homer’s Odyssey. Hence, while fighting in the Trojan War King, Odysseus, King of Ithaca, delegates the care of his household to Mentor, who serves as a teacher and overseer of Odysseus’ son, Telemachus. This story is so important because, Odysseus roamed the land aimlessly in an attempt to return home. But, Mentor continues to care for his son Telemachus. As a grown man Telemachus decides to search for his father. The story continues that Athena, Goddess
