The novel of Franz Kafka The Metamorphosis examines the absurdity of life. At the beginning of the story Gregor is shown as a hard worker, always there to help his family. They appreciate what he is doing and make him feel important. When people are used to have someone useful in their life, they take advantage of it and often give him love and gratefulness in exchange. But as soon as this individual becomes useless because of sickness or others (like transforming as a bug), the people around him start to feel a burden on their shoulders and their appreciation, love go down toward that person. That what happened to Gregor, when he transformed to an ugly bug, his parents and sister don't have any interest in him and Gregor encounters the limits
