What McCandless Has Shown Me Chris McCandless was just a normal college graduate just like any other person but then he decided to go into the wild and go travel to all different areas before he went to Alaska. Chris decided to go to Alaska because in his head that’s where he thought there would be no one from society telling him what to do. He thought he wouldn’t have to follow the rules of society or people telling him what to do. He reached Alaska, but the reality of Alaska was different that the romanticized expectation that he had in his mind. He didn’t bring enough food for himself and all he relied on was eating plants and berries from the wild.
In the novel Night, Idek shows evil in every way. Idek beats on Eli’s father countless times once to try to get Eli’s gold crown from his mouth. When he wasn’t beating on one of the prisoners he was taking advantage of a young girl at the camp. We see no sign of family in Idek’s life but plenty of evil outbreaks. Even though Idek is also Jewish just like all the other members of the camps and he too treats the prisoners like the German officers would or even worse.
If your civil rights were taken away, would you fight to protect your rights or watch and let your civil rights drift away? Marcus, a main character in the book Little Brother, was near the bay bridge in San Francisco when it was blown up by terrorists. He was blamed for it by the DHS (Department of Homeland Security). Due to the bombing, the city was put under heavy watch by the DHS and everyone was treated as a potential terrorist, especially Marcus. Throughout the book, Marcus fought against the DHS for the rights to privacy of himself and the civilians of San Francisco.
In Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, the character Jack has characteristics of The ID. The ID is the part of the mind in which instinctive impulses and primary processes are manifest. Jack, displays this in chapter four when he is dancing in war paint for a religious ceremony. The author describes this event, stating, “[Jack] began to dance and his laughter became a bloodthirsty snarling”(64) Jack displays his natural instincts in this part of the story.
Then, there is Jem Finch, also known as just Jem. Jem is exceedingly brave and shows a lot of growth and empathy throughout the novel. Jem is the older brother and he is going through puberty and now he shows it through some of the novel. Growth and empathy are shown various times throughout the novel. “It ain 't right, somehow it ain 't right to do 'em that way.
Never giving up is one of the most important things a person must do in their life, and the book Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick contains this as it’s theme. This book follows the life of 2 young boys that have very troubling events over the course of the book, but despite all these events they stay strong, and never give up. We could all learn from these fictional yet very real characters and improve our lives by following their example. If you do this, then limits on you will be re sharpen and you too can accomplish amazing things just like these characters.
Upon choosing my fourth song, I thought of the portion of the novel where Janie begins to grow doubt following her current friendship with Tea Cake. The main reasons for this sprouting emotion include the age gap between them and her unwillingness to pursue a relationship with him for fear of him messing with her feelings. Over the course of the next few days in the story, Tea Cake reassures Janie of his pure intentions even though she remains skeptical. In order to express his affection towards her, Tea Cake invites Janie to a picnic at the end of the chapter where she continues to question him by saying he could bring any woman he wants and states he does not have to bring her along just to show kindness. In Lord of the Flies there is a war between civilization and chaos. The side of chaos is Jack’s side and the civil side is Ralph’s side. Jack’s side has no hope for civilization, there is just chaos because all they want to do is eat, sleep, kill and repeat. In the end chaos takes over the island, but there is hope for civilization.
Friendship “When you're up in life, you get to know who your friends are. When you're down in life, you get to know who your friends are.” -Anonymous This quote fits perfectly with the novel. First of all, in the novel Freak the MIghty, Max and Kevin demonstrate a strong friendship.
“You’re sentenced in a jail and you got a date ahead of when you know you’re gonna be let loose” ( Kesey, page 190). The lifeguard that is talking to McMurphy say that being in jail is better than being in at the ward because you do not know when you are going to leave. After this McMurphy talks to Harding and says “Yes; chopping away the brain. Frontal-lobe castration. I guess if she can’t cut below the belt she’ll do it above”.
This passage explains love and emotional significance in the war . Although the small role of women in The things they carried ,it is an importance threw out the book. Females character’s Martha ,Mary Anne and Kathleen have all effects on the men. Different women in the book have different effects on the men and affect them in different ways .For an example “Jimmy cross carried letters from a girl who named , Martha who 's an English major at Mount Sebastian College.
Tom Robinson is a mockingbird in that he doesn't do one thing wrong. All he does is provide help to the people he interacts with. That is exactly how he got in trouble. Tom Robinson was helping Mayella with some chores. He was humming a melody and when he chopped up the dresser drawers.
One of the main themes in the novel is twinning. There are any twins in and out of the space of the novel. Outside the
Inhumane In the memoir Night by Elie Wiesel, the theme man's inhumanity man relates to cruelty by calling them names, treating them horribly, and making them look the same. Even the Jews in the same barracks fight each other for food, and some people suffocate because they are laying on top of each other. In this quote “Faster you swine”(Wiesel 91). This quote shows the reader how the Nazis treated the Jews when they are marching to Gleiwitz.
