Throughout the trial of Tom Robinson v.s. Mayella Ewell four testimonies were heard. The first testimony was stated from Mr. Heck Tate. From his statement we know that the attacker was left handed, there was no doctor called to confirm the alleged rape, and also there were hand marks around Mayella's neck. After Mr. Tate came down from the stand Mr. Robert Ewell was called to testify. when he had first started to speak, he acted very stuck up and snotty, however, Judge Taylor straightened him up.
Heck Tate is the officer of Maycomb and he didn’t immediately report the crime (Lee 190). The last evidence we have today is that no one called a doctor right away when they saw Mayella (Lee 190-191). It is a very bad thing to lie under oath to all people. Mayella is guilty because she had bruises on the left side of her face and accused Tom of doing that to her. She is wrong because the person who would have had to hit her on that side would have been left-handed.
Tom Robinson, a black man living in the time of Jim Crow Laws, is on trial for the rape of Miss Mayella Ewell. He has a good lawyer who will fight to acquit him. All of the evidence points to Mayella’s father sexual abusing her. However, despite the evidence against him, Bob Ewell is innocent and Robinson is found guilty.
This had a great impact on Tom Robinson's trial because he was seen as inferior to the jury, Bob Ewell, and his daughter, Mayella Ewell. Complicated because of the circumstances; a white woman’s word versus a black man’s word. Simple because of the facts; clearly no one in this courtroom is guilty besides the defendant himself, Tom Robinson. There is undoubtedly more evidence confirming the fact that Tom Robinson is guilty rather than innocent.
The book “To Kill a Mockingbird” written by Harper Lee and the article “Scottsboro Boys Trial” both contain controversial court cases. For “To Kill a Mockingbird” a black male named Tom Robinson was accused of raping a white woman named Mayella Ewell. In the “Scottsboro Boys Trial” nine young black men and teenagers are accused of raping two white females named Victoria Price and Ruby Bates. Both cases transpired in the 1930s in Alabama. This is bad for the accused as racism was at an all-time in the 1930s especially in the deep south.
In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the story is set in the 1900’s, Maycomb, Alabama. During this time there was racism in the south and segregation which separated the whites and blacks from everything. There was also the Great Depression, the whole country was poor and people living in the country had to trade and do other jobs for people to either pay them off or to buy something from them. The trial in this book is about Mayella and Bob Ewell, two white people, claiming and arguing that Tom Robinson, a black person, raped Mayella Ewell. This trial is really important because at that time in the south, white people took advantage of black people and their kindness and thought they would take that or shut up just because they were black.
A 14- year old girl was ambushed and raped by 5 older male students after a school play at Blake Regional High school on Friday night. Therefore it put Tom Robinson’s own life on trial for something he did not commit. Bob, got to do The only reason Mayella, and what they did, was because of the racial discrimination during that time. Everything that took place in the courtroom shows the loss of childhood innocence and extreme racial prejudice.

You talk about having zero tolerance for rape happening in prison then maybe you should show it how you treat each inmate claiming they was raped by another inmate or worse a guard. Separating the few bad prisoners from the rest is a good start.
