In the story, Frankenstein, Victor and the monsters share some similarities with each other. They both have had tragic events that has made them feel the same way. Some of the events were caused by each other. They both have respective relationship with nature, desires for family, isolation/loneliness, revenge, and the pursuit of knowledge. As the novel goes on I would say that Victor and the monster become more similar. In addition, Victor is the real monster in this story because of what he has done to the monster. Victor loves the cold and he likes to numbness. In this quote, "The pleasant showers and genial warmth of spring greatly altered the aspect of the earth. Men, who before this change seemed to have been hid in caves, dispersed themselves, and were employed in various arts of cultivation. The birds sang in more cheerful notes, and the leaves began to bud forth on the trees. Happy, happy earth! fit habitation for gods, which, so short a time before, was bleak, damp, and unwholesome. My spirits were elevated by the enchanting appearance of nature" (12.81) this shows that the monster loves the spring. Also, he loves the warm. Even though Victor pushed his family away, he still wanted them in his life. Especially his mother since he was trying to bring people back to life. Victor desired a family with Elizabeth because he loved her and wanted to marry her. Eventually, he did end up marrying her for a short amount of time. The monster desired a family. He would follow the De Lacey family and help them out. He wanted a companion or family to feel loved. The monster asked Victor to make him a family, but Victor refused to.
