The Montgomery Bus Boycott was an event during the Civil Rights Movement which forced the state of Alabama to reconsider the laws of segregation. It all started in Montgomery, Alabama, and was led by civil rights activists. On December 1, 1955, seamstress Rosa Parks refused to give her seat to a white passenger on the city bus, and that was the spark that caused the people to take action. The events that followed would create significant change for the African American population in Alabama.
