They are the most vulnerable because they are not in control of the lives they have been placed in. They suffer based off the consequences of their guardians or their environment. I believe that I am their voice of reasoning. Due to many children/adolescents that has experience trauma, their cognitive function has been disrupted. Most children are unable to fully understand the decisions made for them. This population tend to have limitations as far as learning disabilities or the mental capacity to see the world for what it is. They deprive children of their rights and self-respect/esteem and some children would never know that inappropriate practices are happening to them. …show more content…
I believe young children have already experience many failed systems and the one system that is in place (residentials, hospitals, foster homes..etc) should be protecting our children. Also, as a social worker, I believe that one should know when to take a break in their profession. When there comes a point that a social worker feels overwhelmed, burnout, overworked, and frustrated with their caseload, they should take sometime off. I go to say this because a burned out social worker does not benefit the client. If a social worker does not care about themselves, how could one trust them to care about the needs of the children. This is when paperwork slips through the crack, cases of abuse are not being solved, children are being placed in inappropriate settings, and rational decisions are not being made
