I would like to study an HNC in Care & Administrative Practice because I feel that this course gives me the best route into the NHS, and where I aspire to take my career. I have looked at many courses, with the content, structure, and placement opportunities that come with this course, I am sure this is the one for me. I’ve had a strong interest in the healthcare since starting secondary school. As I became more involved in current affairs and politics, health has always been a big issue. Seton's Healthcare Family Mission is to "improve the health of those we serve with special concern for the poor and vulnerable. We are called to be a sign of God’s unconditional love for all and believe that all persons by their creation are endowed with dignity" (Seton, 2015). Seton's social workers are instrumental in cost containment for the elderly and vulnerable populations. Recent studies have shown there is an influx of non-elderly populations that are uninsured (Shi, 2000). If a patient needs assistance with medications, Seton's social workers first find out if the patient has health insurance and just need help with their co-pay.

The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) has defined six key values for social work practice: service, social justice, the importance of human relationships, dignity and worth of the person, and competence. Social justice is an essential core value within Mission Australia in guiding its programs and campaigns. This is exemplified by Mission Australia addressing and educating the community on social injustice and disadvantage, pushing for systemic change to enhance the lives of marginalised and at-risk individuals. By offering services and programmes that aim to address the underlying causes of social problems, like education on homelessness, Mission Australia exemplifies the fundamental concept of social justice and why it should be addressed not only by charity organisations but the general public. For instance, their housing and homelessness programmes work to give those who are homeless or at risk of becoming so safe and affordable accommodation in which donations of the community are accepted.

Social work skills, theoretical knowledge and values that has been learnt and obtained through both of my placements has and will continue to be a fundamental component of my emerging social work identity. Work being undertaken, whether that being in a government or non-government organisation, has proven to be at times difficult, as often organisations which state that they provide diversity, social justice and inclusive practice are restricted by funding constraints, hierarchical structures and rigid polices. Personally having had two non-government placements, it has been difficult to be able to first-hand make these comparisons. However, through speaking with peers in my PSAG group and through government agency visits conducted on my previous and current placement, it has reinforced that even though we as social workers are working with such rigid and stricken policies, by using a wide range of practice skills and theoretical knowledge that has been acquired throughout my two
Dual relationships are a social worker’s interaction with a client outside of their professional role. The combining of roles often lead to conflicts of interest between the social worker and the client. Conflicts of interests arise when a Social worker's values oppose the morals of their clients. Furthermore, Conflicts of interest also appear when the social worker fulfills their own interest over the interests of their clients (Dolgoff, Harrington & Loewenberg, 2012). 1.01 of the code of ethics states that a social worker is responsible for the welfare of their clients.
In the reading, the author discusses throughout the chapter skills and techniques in the middle phase of working with a service user. Honesty is a value that is highly respected in the social work profession because it creates authenticity and trust in the therapeutic alliance. I agree with the statement completely, as I believe that being honest in regards to what one is feeling as a social worker allows the service user to be honest with how they are feeling as well. Further, it is explained that empathy is of vast importance when working with a service user in order to connect, help them uncover what they are feeling, and find specific approaches and techniques that would be beneficial to the service user. Although I agree that empathy is an important skill for a social worker to have when working with a service user, I feel that at times it can be an issue.
Been wondering if solar or wind power would be a good option for your home, if so which system does one go with, is there better options? The average power bill in Georgia is $123 a month, this past month at my house the bill was $208. Companies like Tesla are getting into the solar market, and some of the biggest solar panel companies are getting into the residential market here soon. Or, is wind-powered the best way to go? One can only get power from solar panels when the sun is out and a windmill can run 24 hours a day.
However, it is not only important to be able to use these coping mechanisms for example, after a difficult day to exercise or meditate but to incorporate these techniques into everyday life. Having these activities integrated into our regular day to day lives can also help maintain a healthy work-life balance. Social care can be a fulfilling and rewarding career however there can also be very difficult experiences and so it is vital that we are prepared to care for ourselves in order to avoid burnout, desensitisation and to be able to continue working with and supporting those who need us. We should be open minded in our work and attempt to learn from both positive and negative experiences.
