The killings began in the summer of 1984 when the first known murder of 79 year old Jennie Vincow occurred. The stabbing murder and sexual assault occurred outside of her home. It took a while before the police found out who was behind the killings due to the clues not being revealing enough at the crime scene towards the start. A shoe print was the only clue that the police had at first. A lot of the crimes done were very similar (i.e. murder and rape) causing the police to think that they all could perhaps be related.

In the Summer months of 1692, twenty-four innocent alleged witches and wizards had been hung, pressed to death, or died in jail in Salem, Massachusetts. However, what caused the mass hysteria known as the Salem Witch Trials? Puritans based their life strictly on religion and the Bible in which they had no free time, education, and felt pressured just to be alive; the citizens were fearful of their future, causing their religion to overpower scientific and mathematical reasoning. In June 1692, two young Salem girls, Betty Parris and Abigail Williams, accused slave woman Tituba and two other white women of practicing witchcraft after Betty and Abigail began to exhibit strange behavior. Tituba confessed to practicing witchcraft and exclaimed that
While the press was divided over the murder of Isaiah Nixon, the responsibility of the black and white press during the 1940s was completely segregated. The black press had evolved out of the necessity to supplement the white press in order to fully voice the concerns of the black community. In this evolution the black press became protestors and in the words of Gunnar Myrdal, a ‘fighting press’ . The mission of the black press was to eliminate the press stereotype of the ‘black criminal’ and to demonstrate the humanity within the black community. Stories such as the Nixon’s shined, the Nixon’s became beacons of hope for the black community.
In recent years, two executions in the U.S have generated a great deal of publicity. One of these executions included Troy Davis, convicted and executed for the murder of a police officer in 1989. Another crime in 1989 led to the conviction and execution of Lawrence Russell Brewer, in which Brewer dragged a man by the name of James Byrd to death. Even though the motives and situations of the two crimes were extremely different, the sentence for the two men were the same: death. These sentencings generated a great deal of publicity.
Section IV discusses the time period of the investigation by the House Select Committee on Assassinations, whose existence is owed to the Assassination Information Bureau, from its start-up to its blazing end (Oglesby, 1992, p. 1, 23). As such, it arguably discusses a wider range of topics than any other section; it is also the longest section, spanning pages 117 to 256. First on the list are the connections Lee Harvey Oswald had with three Congressional witnesses who, all within a week’s time, appeared to have committed suicide or been executed (Oglesby, 1992, p. 121-135). Chapters 7 through 10, which cover pages 137 to 175, talk about, for one, the media’s “hard time reporting developments” and declaration that “there was nothing new”

According to the President’s Commission on the Assassination of Presidents John F. Kennedy, Lee Harvey Oswald did kill President Kennedy by himself. I have to agree with them because evidence shows that there was only one killer, which was Oswald. To this day, it still is a mystery whether Harvey was even the killer, but the evidence that was found all points to him. According to the Commission, they found no evidence that anyone assisted Oswald on the assassination (177). He was not involved with any group, persuaded or encouraged by any foreign government, he was not involved with any political party, was not associated with the FBI, and there was no relationship between Oswald and Oswald’s’ killer Jack Ruby (177).
