Several artist had impacted the 60’s with the type of music they made, but only a few stand out in certain aspects. For guitar, Jimi Hendrix was one of the most astonishing guitarists to ever play in the 60’s and some would argue all time. Because of this, his performances would be extremely errotic, to the point where he would be stumbling and smashing things on stage. In 1955, Johnny and June Carter met and performed together on stage multiple times. The two of them had a love affair, while he was still married to his first bride Vivian, and the two fell madly in love.
Beginning with a short sound check, the band Grateful Dead performed a set of 10 songs at the Beat Club in Bremen, West Germany on April 21, 1972. Arguably the most successful touring band of all time, the Grateful Dead was famous as much for its traveling tie-died group of "Deadheads" and the accompanying drugs, as it was for its long, improvisational concerts. My ever-growing love for the Dead was sparked at a young age when my parents gave me Jerry Garcia’s “Teddy Bear Picnic” board book and cassette. Through stories of parking lots full of people just hoping to hear the Dead from the area to topless noodle selling ladies, the atmosphere and energy the Grateful Dead created is truly extraordinary. The first song performed at this show was “Bertha,” sung by Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir.
Jimi Hendrix was the most famous American rock guitarist in my heart. He has multi talent, he can sing and play the guitar skillfully at the same time, also he is a songwriter. He was born in Seattle, Washington on November 27, 1942. Started playing guitar at age 15, when he first got his guitar from his father as a gift. He loves rock music and he also plays blues and R&B music.

The Grateful Dead, or “The Dead” as what they’re also referred as, started out in 1965, in Palo Alto, California. They were first known as The Warlocks, but later changed to The Grateful Dead, “a name from an Egyptian prayer that Garcia spotted in a dictionary.” (Kreps) The members Jerry Garcia(lead singer, ), Though they got their start in the 1960s, they didn’t get their big break until the 80s. They had loyal fans, or “The Deadheads”, that would travel with the band to their next concert.
I, Morgan Dasch, would be honored to be a part of the Global Issues Living-Learning Community in Market Square South. My two and a half years at Hendrix have given me insight to the world around me and all of the different views that come with social, political, economic, I Hendrix simply because I would like to live in a community with a purpose. I feel that we are currently living in a very divided world and I would like to come together to focus on issues we can all agree on. In doing so, I believe that we can be a true community, united by something bigger than ourselves.

The English rock band members consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They were able to create timeless music that still continues to influence artists even years after the end of the group’s time. Not only did they surpassed every limit that was reached before them, they left a mark on the music industry that most artist can only hope they achieve. They changed the way music itself was created and the way it was presented to people listening all over the world.
The 1960s, a period of social revolutions that gave birth to drugs, alcohol, sexuality, and civil rights. Among those who found success during the times of the counterculture was the psychedelic rock band The Doors. Their frontman, Jim Morrison, led the charge of their wild and questionable antics. As the alternative sounds of their blues, jazz, and psychedelic rock called to the ears of listeners, The Doors paved a path right into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Voorhies). In Morrison’s case, it was much more: he made his way into many lists of the greatest lead singers of all time, accompanied by voices such as John Lennon and Mick Jagger (Stone, Rolling).
The Rolling Stones Electrifying History and Lasting Legacy The Rolling Stones are one of the most well recognized and famous bands to ever perform and come from the country of England. At the peak of their careers, they took the world by storm and began to have a tremendous amount of publicity. Along with this attention, also came many varied opinions of the ‘Stones’, both good and bad. The band has had an insane history, of its good times and bad times, but throughout the time, they have still managed to stick together and are still performing today.
