Oliver Stone once said, “who is heroic? People who takes risks despite his fears.” What Oliver Stone is trying to say is that what makes and defines is a hero is simply the fact on how someone overcomes obstacles even if it is a very difficult one. A hero can be anyone around the world. Someone who’s admired, a person who’s every step they take is making a difference in the in the world. Everyone can be a hero if they decided to. Some might think heroes are unique people with all sorts of powers, but really, heroes are people that help others and choose to do amazingly great things in everyday life challenges.
Heroes take on many forms in the real world. Those ordinary people are often overlooked. Even Though, those brave, selfless, courageous people really are heroes too! The passage by Oliver Stone also states how his thought of heroes changed over time. The autobiography, The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, states how Douglass was an ordinary man whom been enslaved but escaped and spoke on the behalf of the other slaves. That is one of the biggest heroic acts, he could’ve just ran away and never come back to be caught, but instead he helped bring freedom to all slaves. Even today, people should be thankful for him and all other people who helps and/or helped bring freedom, justice, and greatness to this world.
