Human beings have traveled long distances across the world for several reasons throughout time. At first, it was to find food and to find a warmer environment. Then humans would travel to a suitable area with better living environments, job offers and education. Recently, however, people have traveled to escape the war and conflicts within a community. Their town, city or country no longer provides them with the shelter and long life stability that they seek, so they end up leaving in order to escape the nightmares that are turning into reality. In a sense, migrating almost seems like a second nature to humans. It is what helps them survive and evolve. He works closely alongside the South Vietnamese General and throughout their journey from South Vietnam, The Narrator would report back to his comrade Man in North Vietnam to help take down South Vietnam. Growing up, The Narrator did not have an enjoyable childhood. Often the bully of his friends and families bullying for being a mixed raced child. One incidence was during New Year when The Narrator was about five or six years old. He would greet his aunts respectfully, without missing any words in his holiday wishes, but his aunts did not hand him the red envelope with money in them like they did with his other cousins.
