The Narrator's Role In The Great Gatsby

The role of narrator is very important in “The Great Gatsby.” The way Nick Carraway tells the story helps to imagine watching the scenes play out in front of your own eyes. In the first 3 chapters, Nick appears to have a bias towards some characters and their actions. He also appears to have a strange focus on the yellow lady from the parties. As he places a focal point on Gatsby and Daisy, the story arises in its profound nature. In the first chapters, the story is told from a strange point of view. It transitions between present and past, I think. As the story builds Nick finds himself questioning where Gatsby’s money comes from. He questions Gatsby’s house, his polos and golf clubs.
