The Negative Effects Of Biodiversity

Everything in nature is made with a simple balance, from the biggest plants to the smallest animals. However, when this balance is interrupted it can flip the scale and cause everything to go in disarray. The thing that stops this from happening is biodiversity. Biodiversity is the amount of variance of life in a certain area and depending on the amount of biodiversity in each ecosystem it can weaken or stabilize the surrounding area. When we take that biodiversity away and put wildlife at risk of extinction, we risk bringing the whole scale tumbling down. Recently biodiversity around the world has been in decline due to many factors like pollution or destruction of natural habitats. The effects of this can be felt throughout different aspects of the world. The continuous endangerment of wildlife is problematic for all humanity because it directly diminishes the food supply and consequently dwindles the economy.
People going hungry is just one of the many negative effects of the decline of biodiversity. In many countries a large amount of people are in poverty, when in poverty they have no food security. The majority of these people are hunters or gathers and live off what they can get from the land (Jowit). With biodiversity and animal populations on the decline these people become more at risk of going hungry because it will become harder to obtain food. While it is harder to obtain food the price of food will be high enough that the poor will not be able to buy any food
