Have you ever read a book and watched a movie that was similar to it? Many original books have been retold into movies. This can be difficult because most of the time the movies are not as exceptional as the books, but there are a very minimal amount of films out there that are. One example of this is with the film “O Brother Where Art Thou?” and the epic poem “The Odyssey.” The film, “O Brother Where Art Thou?” is very effective in retelling the epic poem “The Odyssey” because both have a similar plot, the characterization between the characters are comparable, and the themes are related. In “The Odyssey” Odysseus is full of hubris, but he is brave, strategic, shrewd, cunning, sentimental, and the main character of the epic poem. He is shrewd, brave, strategic, and cunning when he stabs the cyclops in the eye to escape it and also when he had to escape from the various other creatures. He is sentimental when he sees his son for the first time in 20 years. He is full of hubris when he thought that he was the reason why the Greeks won the Trojan War and because of his hubris, he is now cursed by Poseidon. In the film "O Brother Where Art Thou?” Ulysses is also brave, strategic, sentimental, cunning, shrewd, and the main character of the film, but he is not full of hubris like Odysseus is. He is brave and strategic when he escapes from jail, which had to take time and effort. He knows that if they get caught, they would have to go through the consequences.
