It takes a lot in a person to be the glue that holds the gang together. Ponyboy Curtis from The Outsiders by S.E Hinton is a big asset to the gang he is in, Greasers because he is very intelligent. Ponyboy lives with his two brothers Darrel and Sodapop Curtis after their parents had died in a car crash years before. Ponyboy is very anxious sometimes but he is also very overconfident because he only worries about himself unless there is a reason to worry about his brothers or gang. First, Ponyboy is intelligent.

Chris McCandless was in his early 20’s, he was the kind of that guy that wanted to learn and experience life without all of the material things. He wanted to be independent from his parents and friends so Chris did something that would be insane for most of us humans but to him, it wasn’t. As a matter of fact, he was known as being a risk taker and enjoyed being out and about in the nature side of the world. Many would believe that Chris McCandless went into the wild to purposely kill himself; however, I myself believe that McCandless did not do it purposely.
My favorite sentence from this reading had to be, "The arms were in sad shape, because everybody was always sitting on them, but they were pretty comfortable chairs." (Salinger 18). In the short sentence, I furthermore get a glimpse of Holden's voice and personality, this time by seeing him contradict himself. He describes how sad looking and beat up the chair is, yet goes on to say how nice and comfortable it is. This to me is a very important clue to Holden's overall personality in regard to life.
Have you ever viewed a piece of media that was astonishingly great, and had a theme that you can learn from? For me, that was The Outsiders—the movie and novel alike. From these 2 pieces of media, I was able to learn individuality and apply it to myself. Though many themes are present in The Outsiders, individuality stood out to me, as it is heavily developed, through character and plot.
