The book The Outsiders is written by S.E Hinton and is a novel about young men who are known as “Greasers”, getting into trouble after two of their members get into a fight and ends in the death of a member of their rival group, the Socials. Important characters in this book are the Greasers, Ponyboy, Dallas, Johnny, Darry, Two-bit, Sodapop and steve. The plot of this story starts with the fight including Ponyboy and Johnny, Ponyboy passes out after almost being drowned, and Johnny stabs a Socs member named Bob in self defense. Because of what Johnny has done, Ponyboy and him are told by Dallas to skip town, Dallas gives them money for food while they stay in a church for five days. On the fifth day Dallas takes out Johnny and Ponyboy out to eat, but when they get back the church is on fire with children inside. They all rush to get the children out, but while they do burning timber falls on Johnny while Ponyboy is knocked unconscious by Dallas. Ponyboy wakes up on the way to the hospital and he is reunited with his brothers, but Johnny is in critical condition and could die. …show more content…

Because of the death of Johnny, Dallas robs a grocery store out of grief, the police go after him and end up shooting him and killing him. A judge is involved on where Ponyboy will go, but eventually things calm down, but Ponyboy faces the backlash of the trauma, because his grades fall along with his health.
