When people meet people there first impression isn’t how they should think of that person. After some time of knowing that person is when there opinion should set. Peoples opinion effect how they act towards each other. People appear different in the outside, then how they are in the inside. Throughout the novel, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, Ponyboy 's perspective of Dally, Darry, and Sodapop changes. At first, Pony thinks Dally is rude and mean but he later realizes he is gallant. Ponyboy thinks that Dally is mean because of the way he acts to others. When Dally got mad at Johnny for yelling at him Johnny said, “You just didn’t tell Dally Winston what to do. One time, in a dime store, a guy told him to move over at the candy counter. Dally had turned around and belted him so hard it knocked a tooth loose. A complete stranger, too,” (S.E Hinton Pg.24). At this point in the story Dally is mad at Johnny for standing up to him. When Dally was annoying Cherry for no reason Ponyboy said this because he was shocked that Johnny would stand up to Dally. It makes Ponyboy and Johnny mad that he thinks that he could do whatever he wants. Ponyboy realizes that Dally is a gallant person and not so bad as he seems. When reading Gone With the Wind Johnny says, “ ‘They remind me of Dally’. ‘Dally?’ I said, Startled. ‘Shoot, he ain’t got any more manners than I do. Dally is seen as mean and a hood, but Ponyboy later realises he is gallant because of the he loves and saves Johnny 's life. Darry is has not been loving to Ponyboy, but Ponyboy comes to that Darry does everything for him and Soda and loves him.
