It had more narration so the reader could understand what is happening. Secondly, the movie. The movie was different than the book. It had some parts that were in the book, but it lacked some details.
This is my writing assignment comparing The Outsiders movie and book. My favorite quote was“Stay gold Ponyboy” which means Do not go tuff and stay like yourself because you are once in a lifetime. My opinion of both the movie and the book are pretty good. It is about a young fourteen year old greaser named Ponyboy who goes through many challenges with his gang Two-Bit Mathews, Johnny Cade, Dallas Winston, Steve Randle and his brothers Sodapop and Darry Curtis. He is a witness to a murder and runs away with Johnny. Their hideout in Windrixville catches on fire and Ponyboy and Johnny have to rescue several kids.
For instance, a major difference between the book and the movie is that in the movie, True Son doesn’t have a white brother. Gordon Butler is in the book, but he’s not in the movie. This is a really big difference because Gordon was a big part of True Son’s decision to save the whites. Luckily, the movie creators replaced him with someone else. “Things are rough all over.” (The Outsiders pg.35) To begin, The Outsiders takes place in the 1950’s-60’s in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The conflict of The Outsiders concentrates on the gang rivalry between the Greasers and the Socials or “Socs,” who live on opposite sides of town. Moreover, the protagonist of the story is Ponyboy Curtis who has two brothers, Sodapop Curtis and Darry Curtis.
A book and a movie can be both the same and different. In The Outsiders there are many similarities and differences with the book and movie. They were the same because Johnny kills a man, they cut their, there was the movie scene, and Johnny and Ponyboy went to the church. Some of the differences is when Darry slaps Ponyboy but in the movie he pushes him, Johnny doesn't bring a lot of food in the book but does in the movie he does, when Johnny killed the man it was more described but it wasn't in the movie, and Johnny says he wants to kill himself in the movie. For example, one is that violence doesn't solve anything, or things are hard all over. In the movie of The Outsiders it doesn’t express the same themes though. In both of these versions of The Outsiders though it has very similar storylines to compare the two of these versions and so the audience won’t notice.
