Description: In his cartoon for the Creators Syndicate, Steve Kelley utilizes a four panel structure. All of these panels are surrounded by a black line used as a frame except the last one on the bottom right. The first frame illustrates a blonde buck-toothed woman in a navy blue suit holding up her red nails, with one of the nails being chipped against a simple white background. The woman has very high rosy cheekbones and dark curved eyebrows above her bugging blue eyes. She also wears pearl earrings along with a pearl necklace. The frame reads, “I broke a nail, and all because of Bernie Sanders!” in bold black capital letters. The second frame shows this woman operating a white toaster machine with two bread slots. He utilizes pathos to enrage but also make the reader laugh at Clinton’s supposedly petty problems. By illustrating her blaming her problems on other government officials he is making fun of the amount of blaming she writes in her book, What Happened. She believes she did not win the presidency due to other’s faults, but Kelley believes it was her own. Clinton has expressed that she believes Bernie Sanders did not do enough to help her win against Donald Trump. She also blames Jill Stein for taking away some of the votes that could have been hers. Clinton’s polls also fell once James Comey released a letter on Oct. 28. The letter, which said the FBI had “learned of the existence of emails” in the private email server that Clinton used as secretary of state halved Clinton’s lead in the polls.
