How do adolescents impact adulthood? Well throughout the short stories ( The Passage, Eleven and Through The Tunnel), the authors really went into depth on how the protagonists had a great sense of maturity and independence in their “teen” years of life. In theory, these teens impacted their parents in positive and or negative ways. In a way, parents sometimes don't won't to let go of their “baby” because they've been raising their child for 7-10 years and have seen them grow and progress. For example, in the story, “The Passage” by Dalton Trumbo, the protagonist (Joe), always went fishing with his father from the age of 7 to his current of 15,but now he since he's maturing he wants to be more independent and go fishing with his friends. …show more content…

Joe then stated, “it's a very serious thing. Tomorrow for the first time in all their trips together, he wanted to go fishing with someone other than his father (Trumbo 6).” This quote really showed the importance and the significance of how much Joe really meant to his father. In other words, Joe has asked his father millions of things over the years without even thinking about and now all of sudden he is feeling nervous and very emotional about informing his dad about how he wants to go fishing with someone other than his father. In reality, can you imagine what it's like to be in his father's shoes at that point in time, like they have cherished so many unforgettable memories going what they both love and now he's all amped up to go out a fishing once again, until at that sudden moment his son breaks to him how he wants to go with his friends instead.
