It was only a few days ago. Super Bowl Sunday. The day in which NFL football fans, compulsive gamblers, and any person that simply loves to stuff their face with food waits for all year with great anticipation. The New England Patriots took on the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII. It looked like a considerable matchup. The Patriots, a team exceedingly experienced in these games and led by the famous coach Bill Belichick. The Eagles, an upcoming team that majorly improved from their last season and were attempting to achieve their first Super Bowl win in franchise history. Well it’s obvious who would win right? Every season for the past fifteen years, they have been widely viewed as solid contenders for the championship of the National Football League. They are a very successful team, and have made it to the playoffs every year for a substantial amount of time. However, one mistake they presented was neglecting to play cornerback Malcolm Butler. Butler played a significant role on the team all season, yet he was benched for this Super Bowl game. This decision by the coach severely affected the team.
Most people agree that an NFL game usually comes down to just a few crucial, defining moments of the game. This could also be said for the game on Sunday. It seemed the Patriots were merely non-existent on some of these principal plays. For example, with only about two minutes left in the last quarter of the game, the defensive end Brandon Graham sacked Tom Brady and stripped the ball. This caused a fumble that was recovered by the Eagles. The Patriots had been attempting a comeback, but this play sealed the game from them.
