When it comes to the topic of banned books, most of us will readily agree that they should be banned because, there are words and things there that teens or kids should not be reading. Where this topic usually ends, however, is on the question of, is there justification for these profanity words being on the book. Whereas some are convinced that books with profanity should be banned, others maintain that they shouldn’t. Many books have been banned over the years, and there are reasons for this banning, but the reasons should be questioned. Books have always been banned and it is a shame for the authors of those books. “Secular and religious authorities have censored books for as long as people have been writing them” (Mulllaly). Before it was much more brutal than today. Claire Mullally states that before, books weren’t just banned but, they were also destroyed, usually by burning them to ashes. The very first books made in the world, were hand written since there were no machines. For that reason, there were few copies of them and that is why it was easy to destroy them all. Most might say that they are just not ready, and whenever the kids are mature and act appropriate, that is when they are ready. That might be true but if that is the case; one kid can mature when he is in middle school while another kid could have matured in elementary, therefore, why should a book be banned for all the teens/children, because of one kid that was not mature yet. If someone reads a book and is not ready for the type of language or scenes it has on there, they should put it down and let somebody that is ready to read those type of books read it, instead of banning them for
