Throughout, Pig’s dialogue we see him portray a very nasty character to Trevor, shouting words such as ‘Go away!’ , ‘Sausage-shaped swine!’ , ‘Mine!’ and ‘Scoot!’. At the end of the book, we see that while Pig is ‘on the mend’ that he is not greedy and selfish anymore but shares his toys with Trevor.
Taylor comes from a nontraditional family. She was raised by her mother, who worked long hours as a housekeeper to support Taylor and herself. Her father, Foster Greer, left her mother when he found out that her mother was pregnant. Her mother doesn 't mind that Foster left; in fact, she often tells Taylor that "trading Foster for [you] was the best deal this side of the Jackson Purchase." As Taylor matures and is exposed to horrible things that fathers can say and do to children, she feels quite lucky to have grown up without a father.

Jeremy Fink has a big fear of change. This shows that he doesn’t really like to try new things and he is not really a risk taker. Jeremy, a 12 year old, has been living without his father for five years now and that has been tough on him. That is one of the reasons he doesn’t like change, because the biggest change he can remember is living without his father. Another example is Jeremy’s food choice.

Most of Vladek Spiegelman has many (strange) personality traits. He can be headstrong, stingy, short-tempered and even borderline racist at times. As the reader reads through Maus I and II, it is learned that most of these things about him stem from his experience being a Holocaust survivor and living through World War II. Before the war, he didn 't exhibit these traits. With his first wife Anja, he is undoubtedly kind, compassionate, and wealthy.
Portfolio Reflections Item 3: Character Map The character I thought had a lot of significance in the novel, but was not a main character was Jordan Baker. Jordan Baker was Daisy’s friend who grew up with her. She is famous for golf and that is how the narrator, Nick, recognizes her.
Making bad decisions and mistakes are a part of life, whether you fix those mistakes you made or let those mistakes or bad choses ruin your life. In the book Dear Martin By Nic Stone, Justyce has made bad choices but he chooses to fix all the mistakes he made in the past. The character of Justyce experiences growth throughout the novel, as he begin to conflict and develop into a content person.
Who is Emmanuel Goldstein? While some might say Emmanuel Goldstein did not affect the loyalty of Oceania’s public, one might argue that Goldstein is the most effective use of propaganda in the book 1984 by George Orwell. His Jewish name is an allusion to Hitler and Stalin’s fear of Jewish intelligentsia, which is why he is represented as an evil human being and shown in Two-Minute Hate to channel hate away from the party. Although he may be a fictitious character, he is used as a real common enemy by Big Brother to keep the public’s loyalty with the party.
Matthew, For question one, I was quite surprised that the story did not shock you with its ending. The beginning of the story simply seemed to tell a story of a road trip a family took. I had no idea that The Misfit would come along and end up killing the entire family. However, once The Misfit came along, I was definitely weary of the story would end. When he showed up and began talking with the grandmother it was evident he was emotionally distraught.
As important as the plot, narrative, and cast are to a film, the audience’s reaction to a film and its characters is equally relevant. A stronger reaction or connection to a character, either positive or negative, allows the character to leave a lasting impression on the audience, even if the film’s plot itself is not extraordinary or memorable. An unforgettable character can be the result of their persona, actions, relationships with others, or the actors’ or actress’ performances. Mark, Harry, and Ada are different characters from various films that elicit either positive connections, negative connections, and or mixed emotional feelings in the audience. A good man is hard to find is about a family who are planning to travel to Florida. The whole family is excited to go except the grandmother, who doesn’t want to go. To make her case, she tells her son Bailey, his wife, and their three children that there’s a criminal named the Misfit headed to Florida. The Misfit is one of the main characters in the story. The author, Flannery O’Connor, introduces him explaining his background and motivations.
American humorist Mark Twain is well known for his novels such as Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Twain also wrote many short stories, such as “The Story of a Good Little Boy,” which describes the short life of Jacob Blivens, who strives to do what is right no matter how many times it backfires. Jacob Blivens is driven by his desire to be “put in a Sunday school book (Twain 329)” and is characterized by his determination, incompetence, and selfishness. This story, though wrapped in a guise of irony and humor, is deeply pessimistic. In Mark Twain’s “The Story of a Good Little Boy”, it is the protagonist’s nature, rather than his virtue, that leads to his demise, suggesting that morality does not always guarantee reward.
Sympathizing with the Bad Guy Ian McEwans Saturday is a novel set in London, shortly after the 9/11-attacks happened. The outline of the novel seems to be fairly standard: there is a protagonist, Henry Perowne, an “intelligent though at times obtuse character” (Thrailkill 176), and an antagonist, Baxter. (Brillenburg Wurth and Rigney 172). The novel completely revolves around one particular day, namely February 15, a Saturday; Henry Perownes only day off. While preparing for what is expected to be an ordinary Saturday, Perowne has an encounter with Baxter, creating many unexpected twists.
