Life is a carousel, always going forward, never going back. In the poem, Circle of Life, Carly Nasch expresses this theme through the speaker being someone wise who understands this life lesson. The speaker really wants someone else to understand this lesson as well. Nasch emphasizes the theme that life doesn't stop for your mistake and you need to keep going no matter what through the metaphor of the carousel, repetition, and using rhetorical questions/giving commands. Also, there is another command in line 11 that states, “Fight for your life and the right to keep dreaming.“ This line pushes the reader to care about their life and rights right now, and it urges them to continue to fight for what they stand for. The commands and rhetorical questions in this poem remind me of how a parent would give the child a command or ask them if they are doing what they are supposed to be. Sometimes, a parent can come across as mean to a child, but their statements will really just judge the child to be the best they can be. The commands and rhetorical questions in the poem are critical in order to make the reader really care and feel passionate about the
