During Shakespeare’s time period, women were mostly considered babymakers and housekeepers. Women were thought to be ignorant and were only around to look pretty. Lady Macbeth, however, reversed these stereotypes becoming a strong and key character in Macbeth. Lady Macbeth is a very interestingly dynamic character who ruthlessly becomes queen of Scotland though her ambition and manipulation.

In the beginning, Lady Macbeth was the lady in charge of the marriage and household to become Queen of Scotland. Toward the middle through the end of the play, she suffers of guilt for her part in the crime.
She progresses throughout the play from a seemingly atrocious and inconsiderate creature to a very fragile woman. In the beginning of the play, she is very assertive and athirst for power. For example, she pushes Macbeth to kill Duncan in order to fulfill the witches’ prophecies. Towards the end of the play, she seems to be a scared, and regretful woman that questions her and her husband’s quest for power. Overall, Lady Macbeth is a self-driven, ruthless, and resilient woman in Shakespeare’s play.

A fierce and influential woman lead which was not only rare for her time period, but offered a reinvigorating look into Shakespeare story telling style. She consistently manipulates and encourages Macbeth to do the things he otherwise viewed as morally wrong with her persuasive and controlling abilities. She is an expert at pretending and blending in with the crowd. From her power-hungry nature, callous and cunning personality, and her over all psychotic desensitization from reality.

Through Macbeth, he demonstrates how gender roles are switched between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth. Every step of the way, his wife Lady Macbeth was there as a reliable source, constantly provoking him to commit disloyal actions, which resulted in the downfall of both main characters and to their misfortune
First, Lady Macbeth is presented as a strong and powerful woman while Macbeth depicts moments of cowardice when they are attempting to overcome conflicts. Lady Macbeth has power over Macbeth. This shows that she has the ability to manipulate people, especially her husband into doing what she wants them to do. Lady Macbeth strategically plans out the murder of Duncan and has complete control over it Lady Macbeth is shown as a very courageous woman while Macbeth is presented as an inadequate person who can’t do anything without Lady Macbeth . Traditionally, women aren't shown as dynamic and powerful figures but Lady Macbeth is portrayed antithetical and different.
Lady Macbeth represents a powerful voice for the women in the book, she lets her determination to give her husband power guide her actions. She's suggested Macbeth should kill Duncan for the outcome of becoming king of Scotland. Lady Macbeth doesn't play the stereotypical woman role which looks over a child and stick within her estate but instead she puts effort into power and leadership. Shakespeare uses Lady Macbeth to show the control that women like her have over their husbands. Eventually, her guilt over the murders of Banquo, Duncan, Lady Macduff and Macduff's children leads her to madness and suicide.
What is the first thought that comes to your mind when you see a woman with a man? You automatically think that the man is the one calling all the shots in the relationship. You also wonder why some women act as if they are the man of the relationship. But in the play Macbeth ;Shakespeare wanted to show that gender doesn't mean anything. From the year of 1040-1057; Macbeth was a king that actually existed in Scotland.

However, in Shakespeare's play “Macbeth” women were a portrayal of influential power that marks a significant change in Macbeth’s thoughts and actions. Why did Shakespeare give women, in his play, the power that drives the other sex to insanity, and feminizes a man by saying I fear thy [Macbeth’s] nature; It is too full of the milk of human kindness”? Three ideas that I would like to state would be parts a woman and male perspective, and the role of sexuality and women’s madness at that era. Women’s perspectives are complicated due to the fact how men perceive women. Lady Macbeth uses her intelligences to undermine her husband. Women and men have different perspectives of each other in their own relationship. They both tend to believe that they know everything about each other.

Gender roles are the roles or behaviors learned by a person as appropriate to their gender, determined by the prevailing cultural norms.
The women in Macbeth are presented by Shakespeare to be powerful and ambitious which was unlike the typical views during Jacobean times. The playwright portrays Lady Macbeth and the witches to be highly influential to male characters in the play, which again contrasts the contemporary views to that time. Their ambition and power are demonstrated through the perversion of nature. This highlights the evil and immoral side, they possess. Shakespeare, however, presented Lady Macbeth and the witches to be manipulative and cunning, rather than violent like Macbeth was during the play.
In Shakespeare's Macbeth women play a big role in convincing and playing with Macbeth's mind. Many things have happened by women convincing Macbeth and it plays minds with his head and he ends up doing horrible things. The first scene when Macbeth went and seen the three witches. The witches began to tell Macbeth that he would become the Thane of Cawdor.

This was a time driven by a patriarchal society, Kingdoms run by Kings and defended by men.
