The Yuma Irrigation Project has had positive and negative effects on Yuma county.The Reason behind the Yuma Project was for the West to expand more and grow bigger in population and economy as they had very little people around.Before the Yuma Project there was only either Drought or Floods from the Colorado River.Nearly 17 million people rely on the Colorado’s waters.The All-American canal provides water for the Imperial Valley of southern California. There was an Economic impact from the Yuma Project.20 years since water from the Colorado River was to Lands in Wellton Mohawk Area which resulted in high crop production.The crop income from the project was an estimated $37 Million.There were canals, pumping stations, leeves, and a power plant built from the Yuma Project.The Laguna Dam was the first built dam on the Colorado River which ended boat travel to the north.The …show more content…

Construction of the Yuma Canal started in 1909 and later finished 1915.The West Main Canal was Started 1913 and was complete 1915.The All-American canal which is 80 Miles and was built in 1934 carries water from the Colorado River to Imperial Valley.the Bureau of Reclamation built rail lines on top of the Reservation levee so rail cars could reinforce or fill in problem areas.The Yuma Valley Railway was started 1914 and was finished a year later.The Parker Dam also known as the deepest dam in the world was started 1934 and finished 4 years
