Since Macbeth’s first performance in 1606, this play has been plagued by a numerous amount of catastrophes, mishaps, and murders. In each of these events, a connection to the play was found, which strengthened the appearance of Macbeth being the “Cursed Play”. Many of these unfortunate events show a strong relation to the play, such as the multiple deaths of the characters during or after the play, the mysterious accidents that occurred, and the overall bad luck that follows those who do not take this curse seriously. The possible causes of this curse have been debated among theatre goers for hundreds of years. There are two main theories that have been proposed, one of supernatural origin and one of a more practical and realistic standpoint.
